click wheel

i am tempted to click
'next'
it taunts me with the
unknown

this song i know for it is
present
but the next song represents
future

this song is 4:54 of what i
know
while 'next' offers me the beauty of
unknown

will it be the syrupy sweet, cutesy schmaltz that is
fiest's 'gatekeeper'

dj shadow's 'mutual slump'
will surely put my head into club nod approval

or will i feel the melancholy introspection of
iron & wine's 'passing afternoon'

the only way to know is to press
'next'
to deny the sure thing that is
present
to imagine the next song that is
future

i will be tempted no more...

(click)

jackson five's 'never can say goodbye'

...dammit!

Coulda been worse. Coulda been Third Eye Blind, Smash Mouth, and Fun Lovin' criminals back-to-back-to-back. All of whom opened for U2 on the Popmart tour. Blech!

Same here, although a stray 3rd Eye Blind disc may have wandered onto my shelf sometime in a Popmart induced haze about 9 years ago.
